Night time
Not a fan of the dark, or need to see where you’re stumbling on your way to the loo at silly o’clock in the morning?
There’s no need to leave a landing light on; a plug-in nightlight may be just what you’re looking for. This one turns on at dusk and off at dawn so you don’t accidentally leave it on all day long. They use very little electricity and a decent one will last you years!
If you’re looking for something cosy for the children’s bedroom, this lamp could work as a treat. It claims to create a calm environment, whilst promoting the natural sleep response.
Socket plug timers
These are great for putting a lamp and other electrical items on a timer. This is useful if you are likely to be home late or when you’re away. Gone are the days of keeping the landing light on 24/7.
Get smart
To make life even more convenient, you can now control your electronics from the comfort of your sofa. You can even control them from the comfort of someone else’s sofa. Yes, you guessed it, there is a smart plug!
Working with smart speakers for voice command or by the touch of an App you can turn your lights or appliances off wherever you are! This is great if you have forgotten the lights or left the iron on in a mad dash to leave for work.
Phillips has a whole host of smart goodies to make switching the light off easier – they even have a starter kit!
Dim down
Dimmer switches reduce the amount of electricity used and are great for gaining some light when eyes are sensitive without having to go full beam!
You can get them fixed in by an electrician or built into your lamps.
Motion sensor light bulb
Let’s not forget the outdoors. It’s not fun being stuck on the doorstep, looking for keys in the dark, but there’s no need to leave a light on permanently. A motion sensor light bulb means you don’t have to change your perfect light fixture, just the bulb.
Don’t want to switch your bulb? You can switch to a screw-in motion sensor switch instead.
